Visa Process
Validity of the Visa
If the studio stay is longer than 180 days, the visa will be valid for 90 days of stay.
The student must request a Foreigner Identity Card, within 1 month from his entry into Spain, at the Foreigner
Office or the Police Commission of the province where the authorization is processed.

Each applicant will complete in all its sections and will sign a visa application.
If the applicant is underage, one of his or her parents will sign the request.
You can also sign the request with a duly accredited representative.
Photography
A recent photograph, flesh-sized, in color, with a light background, taken from the front, with no dark glasses, no
reflections, no gifts that hide the eye of the face.
Valid and current Passport
Original and a photocopy of the page or pages with biometric data from the passport.
The passport must be valid, as a minimum, for the entire duration of the intended stay and has two blank pages.
Passports issued more than 10 years ago are not accepted.
Check for admission to study, training, volunteering or practical activities
Original and a copy of the document.
Criminal Record Certificate
When the duration of the studies exceeds 180 days, applicants for majors of criminal age will present an original
and a copy of the criminal record certificate issued by the country or country of residence in the last 5 years.
The criminal record certificate issued by the US Department of Justice – Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) must
be presented.
Certificates issued at state level by the Department of Law Enforcement are not accepted, nor are those issued at
local level.
The certificate must be issued within 5 months prior to the visa application.
It must be legalized with the Apostilla de La Haya (Department of State in Washington, D.C.) and translated into
Spanish.
A notarized copy of both the original certificate in English and the Spanish translation must be presented.
No certificate of criminal record that has been tampered with or damaged will be accepted under any pretext
(including damage caused by the removal of staples).
If you have resided outside the United States for the last five years, you must additionally present a criminal record
certificate (legalized with the Apostilla de La Haya) and its Spanish translation (and notarized copy of both
documents).
If you have resided in countries that are not part of the 1961 La Haya Convention, the certificate must be legalized
by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of that country and continued by the Spanish Consulate there.
Medical Certificate
When the duration of the studies exceeds 180 days, original and a copy of a medical certificate indicating that the
applicant does not suffer from illnesses that could have serious repercussions for public health in compliance with
the International Health Regulations of 2005.
This document must only be presented when the duration of the studies exceeds 180 days.
The certificate must have been issued within 90 days prior to the visa application, and must include the signature
and seal/ membership of a doctor.
If written in English, it must be accompanied by a Spanish translation.
It is recommended to use the model available on this link
(in which case, it is not necessary to provide an additional translation).
You must present the original and copy of the original certificate. If the proposed model is not used in the
previous link and the certificate is written in English, its Spanish translation must be presented.
